What an SRT file is for

An .srt file is a plain text file with each subtitle line and its start and end time. You can upload it to YouTube as closed captions, import it into editors like Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve or Final Cut, or keep it as a transcript of your video.

How to get a clean SRT

Pick the spoken language before you start for the best accuracy. When the captions appear, open the Text tab and fix names, numbers or technical words. For YouTube-style subtitles, set Words per caption to 5 or 6 so each line reads as a full phrase, then click Download .srt.

Captions burned in, or as a file

Need both? Export the video with animated captions for TikTok or Reels, and download the .srt for YouTube or your editor. Both come from the same edited transcript.

    Is Wordflare really free?

Yes. Generating, editing and exporting captions is free, with no account and no forced watermark. A small optional wordflare.app tag helps us stay free — you can turn it off.
