Why burned-in captions beat YouTube's auto captions
YouTube can generate automatic subtitles, but viewers have to turn them on, they look plain and they often appear late. Burned-in animated captions are part of the video: they show from the first second, match your style and work the same when you repost the clip on TikTok or Reels.
Where to place captions on a Short
On Shorts the bottom of the screen holds the title, channel name and subscribe button, and the right side holds like, comment and share. Keep captions slightly above the lower third and away from your face. Wordflare's default position already sits above that area, and the Position slider lets you fine-tune it.
Captions that help retention
Short lines of two to four words are easier to read at a glance, so viewers keep watching instead of swiping. Use bold styles with a dark outline so the text stays readable over any background, and fix names or brand words in the Text tab before exporting.
